The defender signed a new deal last week...

Sky Blues defender Dominic Hyam signed a new deal last week, as he committed his future to City for another two years.

Having helped the Sky Blues win promotion in the League Two Play-Off Final just a month ago, Hyam is now looking ahead to the 2018/19 season and hoping it's another succesful season.

He said: "Obviously I'm delighted to sign and commit for the next couple of years.

"I want more of what we experienced last season and I'm just excited for the start of the new season and to get going again.

"Playing in the final at Wembley was the best day of my career by far.

"Hopefully it's not the last time I get to do it and I was just trying to take it all in and enjoy it and it was an unbelievable day to have all my friends and family there as.

"Momentum is a big thing and hopefully we can kick on from what we achieved last season and push on again."

Having spoken to Mark Robins before signing his new deal, Dom revealed the ambition of the club was a major reason in him extending his stay with the Sky Blues.

"He was saying how we’re not looking to stay in League One again, we’re looking to have hopes of playing in a higher division.

"We all want another promotion hopefully, but we have to take it one step at a time and hopefully we can keep the core group of players together and push on.

"I think the strength in depth and quality we have in the squad was why I wanted to stay and especially the manager and the players all sharing the same ambition.

"I'm excited and raring to go come pre-season."
