Ladies record dominant win at Villa Park

Coventry City Ladies produced a brilliant performance to get a 4-1 victory...

Coventry City Ladies recorded a fantastic 4-1 victory over local rivals Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The Sky Blues travelled the short distance to Birmingham on the back of their Birmingham FA County Cup win over Sporting Albion on Sunday.

With the fear of fatigue on the Villa Park pitch, the home side went ahead early on when City failed to clear a corner and Emma Follis found the net to put City behind.

However, with confidence high in Chris Holloway's side, City stuck back instantly. Emma Formaston found the perfect through ball for Emma Clough to break through and slot home for City.

With the scores level at half-time, the away side pushed forward after the break and displayed total dominence over the Villians with three second-half goals.

Natalie Reay got the first of them when she blasted home from a Courtney Sweetman-Kirk cross with the help of a Clough flick-on.

Kim Walton headed home at the back-post to secure the three points before Maz Gauntlett added some gloss to the score-line with a brilliant 20-yard strike to complete the 4-1 victory.
