City skipper could be unavailable for Portsmouth trip due to minor operation

Coventry City boss Steven Pressley has revealed skipper Carl Baker could be a doubt for next Saturday's away trip to Portsmouth.

The City captain is due to have a minor operation on Monday for a long-term problem and Pressley said the weekend may come too soon for him.

Baker has netted 14 goals in all competitions this season and although Pressley said he was disappointed by the possibility of losing his influential skipper in the short term, he said the decision was made to increase the chances of having his skipper fit and available for the final half dozen games of the 2012 season.

"I thought Carl was terrific today. He's been a real influential player for us but there's a likelihood we won't have him available for next weekend," Pressley said.

"It's something he has been carrying for a while and although we'd love to have him available for next weekend it's just as important if not more so that we get him back fit and ready to help us see out the season."
