Sky Blues midfielder returns from long injury lay-off in Under 21 draw away at Everton

Coventry City midfielder David Bell made his return to action after a nine-month injury lay-off in the development squad's 1-1 away draw with Everton.

The 28-year-old had been out of action since April 2012 after picking up a knee injury followed by a metatarsal fracture on the eve of a return.

He played 35 minutes though for the Under 21s who were denied a friendly win over the Toffees at Finch Farm after Shaun Jeffers' 42nd-minute opener was cancelled out by a last-gasp leveller.

Callum Ball also recovered enough from a chipped bone in his foot to make a substitute appearance.

Team

Coventry City: Dunn, Phillips, Henderson, Willis, Cameron, Daniels, Thomas, Roberts, Rankin, Jeffers, Wilson
