Ball header secures Under-21 win

Callum Ball's last minute header secured the win at Crewe...

Coventry City Under-21s grabbed a last minute 2-1 win at Crewe Alexandra thanks to a Callum Ball header.

The on-loan striker, who has scored three goals in 17 appearances this season for the Sky Blues, suffered an ankle injury in November and is looking to regain full match fitness.

After an impressive opening display from City, teenage defender Jordan Willis opened the scoring half-way through the first half.

Willis rose highest from a corner and nodded home to put City ahead going into the break.

Crewe, who had fielded a strong side including Max Clayton and Alan Martin, got level after the break thanks to former Wigan Athletic striker Nathan Ellington.

Ellington, who is on trial at Gresty Road, followed in a powerful Michael West free-kick which Shane Fagan parried to put the Railwaymen level.

The Sky Blues weren't to be denied however, and despite both teams having chances, it was Ball who headed home in the final minutes to hand City an impressive victory.
