You can now register your interest in being part of the newly formed CCFC Stadium Forum...

The new chair of the CCFC Stadium Forum wants to hear from fans who want to join the committee that will put forward supporters’ recommendations and input on the feel of a new ground.

Local businesswoman Sandra Garlick agreed to chair the group last week and now wants to hear from supporters who want to be on the independent panel.

She said it was vital that the forum, which will have around 10-12 committee members, remained neutral on other issues but could represent fans’ input on the proposed new stadium.

Garlick said: “After the announcement that I was being made chair, I’ve had quite a bit of feedback from people asking me whether I am working for the club – but that's not the case.

“I am a lifelong Coventry City fan and I want to see my team back in this area as soon as possible.

“Of course, within this role I will have to work with the club and its board – otherwise there would no way of getting our voices heard on the new stadium.

“I know there are many fans out there who are still not sure that a new stadium is going to be built but, having met with the owners of the club, I can see they are very determined to do so and I am hoping to see the first images of the new stadium in the few next days.

“The technical designs have been drafted and now it’s vitally important that supporters have a say and input on the look and feel of the stadium because we want it to be our home and a place where we enjoy watching and supporting our team.”

An email address has been set up - Sandra.garlick@ccfcstadiumforum.co.uk – for supporters to get in touch.

She said: “This is not going to be a forum to debate the rights and wrongs of Sixfields or issues around the Ricoh – there are plenty of other platforms for those types of discussions.

“This is going to be an avenue to say: ‘right, if the club are building a new stadium, how can we influence it? How can we get what we want as supporters? How do we make it home?’

“As well as the email address, I will be going out proactively to speak to a range of groups because I want their views represented too.

“But it must be a group that has a focus and clear terms of reference and that is what I am working on now ahead of a first meeting early in the New Year.”
