"The return to the Ricoh Arena will not faze us." - Steven Pressley

Sky Blues boss says he want the help of the Sky Blue Army to generate an intimidating atmosphere for away teams

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is confident that the occasion of City returning to the Ricoh Arena will not change the way the team plays football.

Looking ahead to the first match at the Ricoh against Gillingam on Friday, Pressley has called on the Sky Blues supporters to create an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams, which he says will help his side produce winning performances.

"We certainly won't let the occasion get to us," he said. "We are definitely looking at playing the game, and not the occasion.

"It will be tremendous to have all the fans there, and to have that kind of support can spur us on to great things.

"We know that we have to win games to get that positive atmosphere around the ground, and if we start doing that, we can help each other, and make it an intimidating place for teams to come to, a fortress."

City are unbeaten in their home league fixtures this season, and possess the second biggest stadium in League One. Pressley says he is wary of the motivation it can provide to visiting players.

"It's just something we have to deal with. Players coming here will be up for it but we need to deal with that. If you play for Coventry City, there are pressures and expectations. We are a big club, and if you can't deal with those pressures then you can't be here.

"There is a responsibility and an expectation always, especially when we return to the Ricoh. But it's something that can and will be managed."
