SIGNING: Coventry City announce the signing of teenage striker Jordan Ponticelli from Strachan FF

3 May 2016

Coventry City FC have acquired the services of 17-year old striker Jordan Ponticelli on a two-year deal…

The Sky Blues have snapped up the teenage striker from Gordon Strachan’s Rugby-based football foundation after an impressive spell on trial at the club.

The frontman has netted a notable 39-goals in 37 appearances, with the Sky Blues having fended off interest from a number of other clubs to ensure Ponticelli’s signature.

The acquisition has rounded off an extremely positive season for the City Academy, with the talented local striker another welcome addition to the CCFC youth ranks. Academy Manager, Rich Stevens commented on the signing:

"We've got good links with the Strachan Foundation and we've been able to pick up a boy called Jordan Ponticelli who has really impressed us during his time on trial,” Stevens explains.

"We had him in for a week and he did so well for us during that week that we wanted to keep him around. It all went mad then as seven or eight clubs wanted him, big clubs as well, but Jordan's a local lad and wanted to sign for us which is great news."

Ponticelli will now join the club's Academy side for the 2016/17 season, where he will be a second year scholar for the U18s and U21s sides.
