DAY 9: What you may not know about our former number nine Dion Dublin...

22 December 2014

The former Sky Blues striker has revealed another passion since retiring and here are nine things you may not have known about our former hitman...

In the 12 days leading up to Christmas we're giving Sky Blues supporters a '12 days of Christmas' feature, where every day in the build up to the big day we'll be reflecting on legends and big matches, as well as offering some fantastic competitions to celebrate the festive period. On Day Nine of our 12 days, we look at one of our best ever number nines and his life away from football...

On Day 9 we look at one of our finest number 9's, Dion Dublin.

After signing from Manchester United in 1994, he scored 72 goals for the Sky Blues, providing some magical memories to City's stay in the Premier League.

He won four England caps while with the Sky Blues, but is now famous in another industry entirely.

Of course he is still prominent in football, becoming a football pundit for the BBC, Sky and ESPN. But what Sky Blues fans may not have known during his career with the club is that one of Dublin's main passions is music and the performing arts.

Here are nine not so well-known facts regarding his other interests:

- He is on the board of directors at the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

- He manages a band named 'The Establishment' who have released their debut album.

- Dublin is an accomplished Saxophonist, learning to play when he was injured while at Manchester United

- During his time at Norwich, Dublin made the 'Dube', a percussion instrument which bands has been recently used by bands such as Feeder and The Maccabees.

- He was a recent guest on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Roundtable, giving his insight on the latest releases in the music industry

- Dublin has released his own Christmas album this year, called 'Dion Dublin's Christmas Presents...' for the Bobby Moore Cancer Fund

- Music runs in the Dublin family, with his brothers also playing guitar, bass and drums

- Dublin performed with his Dube alongside Ocean Colour Scene in 2011

- To help celebrate his 20th year as an ambassador of the Prince's Trust, Dublin is running a 'Ball of Sound Tour' which will help raise money for a number of different charities
