Coventry City defender Chris Stokes is adamant that the Sky Blues can do what only two other teams in League One have done this season and beat Bristol City at Ashton Gate.The newly-promoted side have been imperious on their home turf this season and their promotion was secured mid-week as they beat Bradford 6-0 at Valley Parade.
However Stokes has stated that City will not 'park the bus' and they will attempt to impose themselves on the table-toppers in order to secure a result that could push the Sky Blues even further away from danger.
"Bristol's result was impressive midweek," he said. "Hopefully they will be over celebrating! It's another game for us though and it's a big game.
"We're not going there to park the bus, we can get a result. After the late goal we are on a high and want to take that down to Ashton Gate.
"Everyone thinks that Bristol is a banker, a home win. We're aware that they are top of the league for a reason.
"But if we do get a result then it's massive as it pushes away from that relegation zone. That's the most important thing.
"Although Bristol will be champions if Preston lose friday, I would rather that they beat Port Vale. They are still down there and any result that can benefit us is one that we surely want.
"They will want to do it in front of their own fans too, it's up to us to stop them. We want to impose ourselves on them and test them properly."
Stokes has been keeping the left-back position his own since his loan from Forest Green Rovers and is playing alongside the returning Reda Johnson.
The 24-year old is delighted to have the Benin international back in the side and stated how much of an influence he is to the rest of the defence.
He continued: "Reda is a leader, like a second captain. He is a big presence and he pushes me forward.
"He talks a lot and it is helping my game, having someone that has played at a higher level and for a longer period of time beside you.
"I'm aware that he has played in my position and I'm keen to keep it my own. I know Ryan Haynes is a left-back too.
"I want to keep playing and getting better. If I do go out of the team it's then about getting back in it, but I will always keep working."
