"The game should have been sealed in the first-half and we let them back into it." - Coventry City's Chris McCann

Midfielder Chris McCann on a disappointing night for the Sky Blues as they are held at home by AFC Wimbledon...

Chris McCann admitted it was another night of frustration as the Sky Blues could only come away with a point against AFC Wimbledon.

Andre Wright scored his first goal for City with a dramatic 94th minute equaliser, but after a 2nd minute Marvin Sordell goal, it was another case of missed chances for for the Sky Blues.

The 29-year old believes his side should have wrapped up the game in a dominant first 30 minutes. He said: “I think the game should have been sealed in the first-half and we let them back into it.

“They changed how they were playing and went more direct as the game went on but we failed to deal with it. After we scored early we have plenty of chances to increase the lead and at that point we looked massively on top.

“The boys are disappointed and it may be frustrating but you have to go again and aim to do better in the next game. We look towards Saturday as that is all you can do in these situations.”

Despite the most unwanted of records hanging over the side currently, McCann knows they have to remain positive for anything to change in the near future.

“We have to remain positive and I think for the large parts we are doing just that. We are encouraged by our play in periods of the games but know that is simply not good enough if you cannot continue it.

“I’ve seen them all at the training ground, during match days and the confidence to come out of this slump is there – it’s the only way to be when the situation is what it is.”

He added: “It’s not hard to motivate yourself. You have to go in the next day and work as hard as you can. There is no point letting it dwell, you have to prepare right for the next game and hopefully we can turn it around on Saturday.”
