COMMUNITY: SBitC Begin Partnership with Valley House Youth and Community Service

14 February 2017

SBitC have kickstarted 2017 after beginning a partnership to support young people in sports...

Through the Accelerate into Work project, Sky Blues in the Community is kicking off 2017 by supporting the young people from Valley House with a Level 1 Qualification in Sports Leadership.

Valley House’s mission is to work alongside people to take control of their lives and create their own future. Their Youth and Community service supports 16 to 29 year olds to gain greater independence through increased self-confidence, enhanced life skills and support to progress into employment and training.

This ethos is also reflected within the Accelerate into Work project, where participants are encouraged to identify their strengths, interests and aspirations; utilising this knowledge to explore a career path they are likely to enjoy and prosper in.

The Accelerate project offers participants in Coventry the chance to train with SBitC coaches, gaining valuable employability skills such as CV writing and interview techniques. Courses are taking place throughout 2017 and are open to anyone looking to gain employment.

Valley House supports over 2,000 individuals each year to promote positive change in their lives – Sky Blues in the Community is looking forward to a successful partnership working with their sports-minded young people with a hope of making a lasting impact on their future.
