Luke Bell saved a penalty ten minutes from time to earn a point for the Sky Blues in the Professional Development League at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The game’s first opportunity fell to the Sky Blues and it came after a fine move which saw City play through Bristol City, with the ball coming out to Charlie Finney on the right-hand-side and his cross into the box was inches away from the out-stretched foot of Aidan Dausch.
The opponents had a chance on the break, but they were unable to test Luke Bell in goal, as they effort was dragged wide of the post.
City continued to push for the game’s opening goal, and they had chances with a strike from Bradley Stretton from distance, as well as an effort from close range by Elliot Betjemann, which the ‘keeper saved well at his near post.
HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 0-0 Bristol City
Both sides battled for possession in the second half, as they looked to break the deadlock and find the elusive goal.
Bristol City forced Bell into a smart stop at his near post, as he got down low to ensure the ball didn’t creep into the back of the net.
Betjemann came closest in the second half, when his strike from the edge of the area forced the Robins ‘keeper into an excellent save.
At the other end, Bristol City were awarded a penalty when Bell was adjudged to have brought down his man in the box.
However, Bell would have the last laugh, as he produced a superb save to keep the ball out and keep the scores level at 0-0.
City then nearly caught Bristol City out on the counter-attack, but from a tight angle, Rylie Siddall could only find the side netting.
As the game ticked on to the 90th minute, a header from Joe McCallum inside of the six-yard-box went inches over the bar, as City thought they had won it late on.
