Raphael Borges Rodrigues said it was an ‘easy decision’ when he agreed to join Coventry City.

The winger joins the Sky Blues on a four-year-deal from Australian A-League side Macarthur FC, having enjoyed a successful year.

The 20 year-old told how a chat with City boss Mark Robins was one of the reasons behind his decision, with the manager showing confidence in his ability.

The last few days…

“There’s been a lot of things to do these last few days. I’ve had to pack up everything and move down here which I was very excited for and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

First thoughts of England…

“I haven’t been around too much but yeah, I’m excited to see what’s around here and make myself familiar with the area.”

Taking in the Coventry Building Society Arena…

“It’s a beautiful stadium and I can’t wait to be playing in it with all the fans and everything, I think it’s going to be a very good atmosphere.”

His breakthrough year…

“It’s been a good 12 months. It’s probably my first season of playing consistently. So, it’s been very enjoyable, and I’ve learned a lot over the last 12 months, and I can’t wait to keep learning.”

Why he chose Coventry City…

“Speaking to the manager and everyone at the club, they showed me a lot of confidence that they believe that I can come here and make an impact.

“I mean, it’s going to be hard, but I think they’ll help me adapt in the best way possible and then help me with this next step in my career.”

What Mark Robins said…

“He explained to me the way, they do things here, the way they want to play, and I was very excited to jump on board.”

What to expect from him next season…

“I like to be creative and express myself and hopefully I can score a lot of goals and create a lot of assists and just entertain people.”

Watching the FA Cup semi-final…

“From what I saw they showed a lot of heart, it’s not easy when you're down like that in a game against opposition like Manchester United, but from what I saw, the boys dug deep and almost got over the line.

“I mean it’s not every day that you see something like that against a big club like that.

So, to play on that stage at that stadium would be a dream come true.”

Ready to get started...

“I’m buzzing, I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started.”
