INTERVIEW: Mark Robins looks back on a fourth consecutive win as City see past Huddersfield Town

City beat the Terriers 3-1 at the John Smith's Stadium...

Mark Robins was pleased with the way his side grinded out a fourth consecutive win in all competitions.

Victory against Huddersfield was a third on the bounce in the league, as the Sky Blues climbed to 7th in the Championship.

Ellis Simms scored twice again, with Haji Wright adding a third in injury time, as they both took their tally to 16 for the season.

Speaking after the final whistle, Robins gave his reaction to three points on the road for his side.

Reflecting on the game…

“I thought we were really good first half. We got ourselves in front with a really good finish from Ellis and then the second one came not long after that and it was another really good finish.

We had some other chances to score. They are always a threat, and they are fighting for their lives, and they have some good players and they’re a threat from set plays and we defended them with our lives.

We gave them a leg up and a way back into the game and we spoke about it at half time and then that’s what happened.

It wasn’t a scintillating performance by any stretch of the imagination, but we said, at this stage of the season, you have to find a way of winning games and we did that.

The quality in the team is there for everyone to see and the goals were outstanding.

Haji’s finish was brilliant to settle any nerves that may have been there, but I thought we defended really well. Jake Bidwell and all the defenders threw their bodies in the way of things. “

Letting them back in for a moment…

“There’s more in there. You’re looking for performance levels but sometimes you have to find a way of winning games.

We made a mistake and let them back in and it was a good finish from Healey. We ask them to play and sometimes they’re going to get it wrong, and they punished us for that.

We stayed in it and stayed strong, and we had chances before the third goal, but Haji’s was an outstanding finish.”

Milan van Ewijk’s contribution…

“We’re creating chances and Milan has had some chances, the first half he went through and the ‘keeper made a brilliant save, but he’s getting in good positions.”

Brad Collins’ performance…

“Brad has made some really good saves, and he was worked hard today.

A few times they were offside, but he wasn’t to know that, and he has made some fantastic saves to keep the ball out.

He took some really good catches from corners, crosses and throw-ins and I think as a team we defended really well.”
