The striker scored a brace at Vicarage Road...

Haji Wright was the match winner at Vicarage Road, as his goals saw the Sky Blues come away with all three points.

Wright scored his 13th and 14th goals of the season, as City moved within a point of the top six heading into the international break.

Wright spoke to the press after the final whistle and looked back on victory against the Hornets.

Thoughts on the game…

“Yeah, a tough first half for us. we found it difficult to get into the game. But I think around the 40-minute mark, we're able to draw the penalty and we started to work our way into the game.

The second half was a bit of the same, difficult to start but we were able to feel our way into the game and create opportunities and take three points.”

The character and a belief in the squad when going behind in games…

“There's a lot of belief in the squad.

We have a lot of quality players on our team who can make a difference and we just believe in our abilities, and we know eventually, if we keep working and grinding, we'll get our chances and opportunities and hopefully we take them.”

Josh Eccles role for the goals…

“Prime Ronaldo all of a sudden, pulled out something I never seen. Amazing.

Yeah, great pass from Josh and then I blasted it in.”

Pressure on taking the penalties…

“Yeah, I'm the one taking it. So, I decided when I shoot, I know how I shoot. So yeah, I don't feel pressured or rushed or anything.

It's just kind of confidence in the moment, I feel confident taking penalties I always have, and I believe in my ball striking abilities, so I know if I hit it correctly that, no keepers going to save it.”

Seeing the game out…
“Yeah away games are always difficult coming to away grounds and getting results.

We knew coming in that we're going to have to defend at some point and then stop some of their onslaught and just stay in the game.

Really just fight our way and that's what we did today.”

Closing in on the top six

“Exactly. Obviously, that's our goal, and that's what we want to do. So, it's good stuff for us.”

Looking forward to next week and Wolves in the FA Cup…

“Yeah, it should be exciting.

Hopefully we come away with another result, another away game it's going to be difficult. They’re a Premier League side, obviously they're quality but we believe in ourselves. So hopefully we can come up with a result.

I mean, for us as a club, I think it's pretty important.

We want to go far into the competition, and we want to play in these type of games and come against these type of squads to test ourselves and hopefully, prove our worth really.”

Partnership with Ellis Simms…

“I like playing with him.

He's a similar type to me, strong, fast, good with the ball at his feet, good at attacking space ahead of him. So, I kind of know what he's going to do before he does it, so I try to get into positions where he can be effective and dangerous.

It doesn't always work, but I kind of know his game really well now, it's fun playing with him.”
