INTERVIEW: Callum O'Hare talks goals, Leicester win and momentum

The midfielder scored twice against Leicester...

13 January 2024

Callum O’Hare was ‘buzzing’ after firing the Sky Blues to three points against Leicester City.

The midfielder scored twice in the game, alongside a goal from Milan van Ewijk, as City came from behind to beat the Foxes.

Speaking after the final whistle, O’Hare looked back on the game and his influence on the result.

Reaction to the win…

“Massive scenes. We said in the dressing room before the game, we wanted to prove how good we are, everyone knows how good Leicester are and we have showed them how we can play. I am buzzing.

“We have put a great run together against good teams but they are top by a mile, so we wanted to say we are good enough and we feel like we can get up there as well. We showed that today.”

Fears when they took the lead…

“Not really because even when they had 11 men we stuck to our game plan, and we executed it really well. We did not make too many chances but we had a few chances on the break.

“They got a penalty, they did not have that many clear-cut chances so I think we played really well throughout the whole game.”

On their penalty and the red card…

“I have not seen it back I am not going to lie. It looked like to me he got the ball but obviously I could not see properly. I can not really speak on that.”

“He has jumped in, you cannot do that anymore. He has not won the ball so yeah it is a red card.”

Jake Bidwell walking away uninterested…

“Bidderz is the terminator! He is a monster, everyone knows that!

“He has just taken a two footed tackle and just got up like it is nothing, like Rambo!”

On him kissing O’Hare Sr’s head again…

“I cannot give too many secrets away. I said to my dad today I am going to score two goals today so I am happy I scored two at the end.

“I would have taken one to win 2-1 but two for 3-1 is better so yeah I am buzzing.”

Milan Van Ewijk…

“What a player man and what a guy as well. I am buzzing for him, it was a great goal and a great finish and I think you can tell from his knee-slide afterwards how happy he was!”

His second goal to confirm the points…

“Now I am getting fitter I can play more minutes and there is always chances at the end of matches to score goals.

“I never gave up or lost the energy. I got into the box and it landed to me, put my left foot through it and I scored. Killed the game off at the end.”

The love from the fans…

“And I love them as well and they know that. Everyone around the club knows that. All the staff, the managers, the players, I have a great bond with everyone so let’s see what happens.”

Climbing into the play-offs…

“It is special. I was saying to my family yesterday and when I had my interview yesterday, the games I missed last year, the big games were horrible, so I want to play in those this year.

“Hopefully we can keep putting those results together. At the end of the year, lets see where we can get to.”
