Coventry City Under-18s are out of the FA Youth Cup after an impressive run that took them all the way to the final 16 of the competition.
The young Sky Blues stormed past Preston North End and Barnsley to set up a showdown with Millwall at the Coventry Building Society Arena with a spot in the last eight at stake - but were unable to take their journey one step further after a 3-0 home defeat.
City enjoyed much of the possession throughout the 90 minutes but were unable turn turn their dominance into goals with the visitors thrice making Mark Delaney's side pay.
Kavalli Heywood opened the scoring for the Lion early on but Coventry responded well by forcing chances for Aidan Dausch, Dave Mantle and Callum Perry during the opening 30 minutes.
Millwall made it two just before half time through Heywood once again and started the second half in just as clinical form, through Dapo Olugbodi.
The result means City's FA Youth Cup dream comes to an end with attention now turning to the remainder of the Under-18s Professional Development League campaign.
