NEWS: Matchday Memorial remembers fans who have passed away

11 April 2024

Saturday's fixture against Leeds United was our Memorial Matchday, when we remember Sky Blues fans who have sadly passed away.

There was a pre-match service in the Memorial Garden, led by Club Chaplain Kieran Joseph. In this service, the names of supporters were read out and Sky Blue seeds available for loved ones to collect and take with them.

Inside the stadium, the matchday programme included names of those being remembered on the day.

At half-time the Matchday Memorial video was shown, which included names and photos of supporters who have passed away.

Footage from this can be viewed on our YouTube channel here or below:

The first Matchday Memorial was held in August 2021 and Coventry City now holds two matchday memorials per season.

While any tributes to former players and staff will continue to take place at games where necessary, tributes to fans who are sadly no longer with us will largely be focused around these designated memorial fixtures rather than being match-by-match.
