Job Title: Rehabilitation Physiotherapist            
Location: Sky Blue Lodge, Ryton on Dunsmore
Reporting to: Head of Medical Services
Hours of work: Full-time (Including weekend working)

Coventry City Football Club is seeking a Rehabilitation Physiotherapist to work full-time with the First Team and U21 squads at the Club’s Training Ground.

Working predominantly with the Coventry City First team, this role will ensure we are offering world-class, specialist rehabilitation to medium- and long-term injured players. The candidate will need to have extensive knowledge of evidenced-based rehabilitation principles and be proficient at co-ordinating rehabilitation programmes for elite athletes.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with an experienced and estbalished Performance Team to further develop, implement and evaluate medical provision within the Club.  

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

Medical Provision

  • To lead the rehabilitation of first team and U21 players, adhering to all professional standards and current best practice
  • Utilise objective metrics to justify and adapt rehabilitation, including collection of pre-injury baseline information
  • To provide weekly clinical reports to the Head of Medical Services regarding injured players’ progress
  • To contribute to the re-integration of first team and U21 injured players back into team training in conjunction with other multidisciplinary team members
  • Attend appointments with injured players, including specialist consultations and treatment interventions as directed by the Head of Medical Services

Communication

  • Attendance at regular meetings with the Head of Medical Services, Club Doctor and other Physiotherapists
  • Lead a weekly rehabilitation meeting ensuring all relevant content is planned and discussed
  • Be an integral part of the Performance Team, including working closely with the other Physiotherapists and Sport Science staff

Record-Keeping

  • Ensure all player records are kept up to date, adhering to HCPC and CSP guidelines

Multi-Disciplinary Contribution

  • Offer input and advice to other Performance practitioners
  • Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings and case conferences to provide medical input where necessary
  • Use Club data/IT systems to report metrics to be used for analysis, audit and research
  • Provide relevant CPD for the Performance Department as required

Emergencies

  • Contribute to the regular updating of the Emergency Action Plan for training and competition
  • Advise on regular, in-house emergency medical scenario practice (as recommended by ATMIFF)

The post-holder may be required to carry out other duties to assist with the smooth functioning of the Performance Department as required by the Manager, Performance Director and Head of Medical Services.

Qualifications, Skills, Criteria

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Post graduate qualification in relevant field
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering rehabilitation programmes in elite sport
  • Have extensive knowledge of specialist rehabilitation equipment e.g. KangaTech, BFR, HBOT
  • Up-to-date, full Advanced Emergency First Aid qualification (ATMMIF)
  • Evidence of attendance at an annual ATMMIF-R reaccreditation
  • Full and valid driving licence
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
