PREVIEW: Coventry City travel to Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship

Coventry City make the short trip to St Andrews as the race for a top six finish intensifies...

11 April 2024

Coventry City travel to Birmingham on Saturday afternoon to take on a Blue side who still have plenty to fight for in the Sky Bet Championship.

Meet the Blues:

Birmingham City will welcome the Sky Blues to St Andrew's knowing that anything short of a win could leave them as far as four points from safety with just three games left to play in the Sky Bet Championship.

Gary Rowett's side currently sit second from bottom and have won just one of their last ten games, losing eight of them.

However, their final four games present plenty of opportunities to snatch survival with games against Rotherham United, already relegated, and Huddersfield Town, who could fall into the bottom three themselves.

Ethan Laird has been their star player this season with Juninho Bacuna and Krystian Bielik also amongst their most highly-rated.

Mark Robins' thoughts on the weekend:

"We will always be grateful to them about the time we spent at St Andrew's, where we won promotion to the Sky Bet Championship by winning Sky Bet League One.

They need the points and we're all in the game for that. They had a difficult evening agaisnt Cardiff the other night and lost 1-0.

Birmingham are only losing games by the odd goal. They have some really good players and they've had chances in managers this season.

They looked like they were turning a corner there this season and I really wish Tony all the best with his recovery, I hope he is back quickly.

They're not far away from getting decent results and they just came up short last time. There are no easy games and this one will be the same.

We need the points and we'll be going all out to get them.

Sky Blues' last six:

  • Southampton 2-1 Sky Blues
  • Sky Blues 2-1 Leeds United
  • Sky Blues 1-2 Cardiff City
  • Huddersfield 1-3 Sky Blues
  • Wolves 2-3 Sky Blues
  • Watford 1-2 Sky Blues

Birmingham City's last six:

  • Birmingham City 0-1 Cardiff City
  • Leicester City 2-1 Birmingham City
  • Birmingham City 1-0 Preston North End
  • QPR 2-1 Birmingham City
  • Birmingham City 0-1 Watford
  • Birmingham 0-1 Middlesbrough

Head-to-Head:

Birmingham City wins: 24
Draws: 20
Coventry City wins: 20
