LOAN WATCH: Three Sky Blues loanees find net over Easter weekend

3 April 2024

Members of the Coventry City squad currently out on loan were in action over the Easter weekend, with Ephron Mason-Clark, Justin Obikwu and Ricardo Di Trolio all on the scoresheet.

Ephron Mason-Clark’s Peterborough United were on the end of a shock on Good Friday, losing 3-1 to bottom of the table Carlisle United, however Mason-Clark did play the full 90 minutes for the Posh.

There was better news for individual and team on Easter Monday with Ephron bundling the ball into the net from close-range in a 2-1 win at Leyton Orient, the goal being his 19th of the season. Peterborough currently sit 4th in the League One table.

On Sunday, their attention turns to the EFL Trophy Final at Wembley when they will face Wycombe Wanderers.

Elsewhere in League One, Jack Burroughs was an unused substitute in Lincoln City’s two games over the Easter period.

In League Two, young striker Justin Obikwu found the net again for Grimsby Town in the 88th minute, but it was only a consolation as they lost to Barrow on Good Friday. He then got 70 minutes under his belt as the Mariners drew 1-1 at home to Bradford on Monday afternoon.

Welling United claimed another huge three points towards their goal of survival with a 1-0 victory over Dover Athletic on Good Friday, and it was Sky Blues loanee Ricardo Di Trolio who scored the all-important goal.

A 72nd minute corner was met by the head of the young centre half to send the home fans into raptures. A 1-1 draw at Maidstone followed on Easter Monday, plus a second 90 minute appearance for Di Trolio of the weekend.

Finally, Marco Rus  played 73 minutes in Universitatea Cluj’s 0-0 home draw against AFC UTA Arad in the Romanian SuperLiga Play-Off Group B match.
