INTERVIEW: Kasey Palmer on Hull City defeat, his goal and league standings

The midfielder looks back on the night's action...

24 April 2024

Kasey Palmer looked back on defeat for him and his teammates against Hull City at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Palmer struck a fantastic free-kick to draw City level in the game, but they would ultimately come up short, when Noah Ohio scored late on for the Tigers.

Speaking after the final whistle, Palmer looked back on the game and where it leaves City in the Championship.

Reflecting on the match…

“I think the players who played big minutes on Sunday were going to be exhausted, going into the game.

People like Callum (O’Hare) could not play because he done that much running on Sunday.

It was always going to be a tough task but we did not have the players on the bench to come on at the right time.”

Hull City's goals...

“When you look at the goals conceded, we could have done a lot better on all three, but it is one of them. It is what it is.

We have to bounce back and try and end the season as strong as we can in the last three games.”

Coventry’s never say die attitude…

“It is a culture thing at this club, we never give up.

Whenever we are losing, we feel like we can get back into it and win the game, you saw that on Sunday and against Wolves.

We knew going into the game we needed to win all four games to have a chance of the play-offs.

We did not do that, so it is a sad, down dressing room at the minute but we have to pick ourselves up because we have three games.”

On his freekick…

“It would have been nice if we had won, it would have felt a lot better coming in here an ftalking about it.

It was a good freekick, I have just seen it back to be fair.”

On the play-off chase…

“We know it is out of our hands now, and we are relying on other teams to slip up.

If we fall short, which it looks like we might, going into next season we already have a new player ready, and hopefully we will add a few more players to this already strong group.

We are only going to get stronger going forward.

Now with these last three games, people are going to think we are out of the race so it will take the pressure off.

We are outsiders now so we need to go and attack these games, get three wins and hopefully things go our way.”
