Here at Sky Blues in the Community, the mission statement of our Player Development Centre is ‘to provide high quality coaching and a positive coaching environment to support players in reaching their potential’.
Harry Davies’s journey from our Player Development Centre to Coventry City Academy is one that exemplifies both our mission statement here at the PDC, but also the three key values of both the Academy and the PDC:
- RESPECT
- DEVELOPMENT
- RESILIENCE
Whilst Harry, as a polite and hard-working young man, exemplifies all of our values, arguably none of our values epitomises Harry’s journey so far as much as ‘RESILIENCE’
Harry’s coach & Sky Blues in the Community's football development co-ordinator Connor said of Harry:
‘‘Harry is an incredibly humble and eager young lad, who exemplifies the values of the club so well. It’s a pleasure to have been part of his journey in the Player Development Centre’’
A Coventry local, Harry first joined our Player Development Centre here at SBitC with the under 8 age group. As is the case with some of our most talented players here at Sky Blues in the Community, Harry was put forward by our coaches and trialed for a place at Coventry City Academy!
However, the time wasn’t right yet, and Harry was unable to gain a place at the Academy. Harry again trialed at U9 & U10, both times again not being successful.
Each time, Harry returned to the coaches at our Player Development Centre, and continued to show resilience and development - growing as both a player and a young man, under the coaching of our staff.
Harry once again trialed this year as an U11, & in the 6th week of his 8-week trial, was successfully offered a contract as a Coventry City Academy Player.
Harry’s Dad had this to say about the player development centre’s role in Harry’s journey:
“With the ongoing support and high-level training he has received at SBitC over the past few years, Harry has been able to achieve his goals through maximum effort. This is a testament to the pathway they provide."
We at Sky Blues in the Community Player Development Centre are so proud of Harry’s journey so far, both in terms of his own resilience, hard work and talent at his young age, but also of all the coaches in our PDC that have helped Harry develop along his journey, being part of him arriving at this fantastic next step.
