PREVIEW: The Sky Blues head to South Wales to face Cardiff City

City on the road again to face the Bluebirds...

19 September 2023

The Sky Blues are back on the road again midweek, as they travel to the Cardiff City Stadium to face the Bluebirds.

Meet The Bluebirds:

Fresh off the back of victory in the South Wales Derby, Cardiff head into tonight's fixture 16th in the Championship.

Two wins from their last three has helped make it a promising start to life under Erol Bulut's helm, the fourth manager at Cardiff in the last 12 months.

After survivng relegation to League One last season, Cardiff looked to rebuild, recruiting former academy product Aaron Ramsey, following his departure from Nice.

There were also noticable arrivals on loan, with former City defender Jonathan Panzo joining on deadline day, as well as Ike Ugbo, Josh Bowler and Karlan Grant.

Erol Bulut:

June 2023 saw Erol Bulut embark on his first managerial position in England, after being appointed Cardiff City manager, departing Turkey for the first time.

German-born Bulut started his playing career in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, before arriving in Turkey with Fenernbahce, where he would make over 100 appearances.

Bulut's playing careere stretched over 20 years, playing for the likes of Olympiacos, Trabzonspor, 1860 Munich and Bursaspor, retiring in 2012, heading into a coaching role with Kartalspor.

His first job would land at his feet in 2017 when Yeni Malatyaspor came calling. Jobs at Alanyaspor, Fenerbahce and Gazientep would follow, before being appointed Cardiff manager this summer.
