INTERVIEW: Jay Dasilva looks ahead to his return to Bristol City this weekend

20 October 2023

Jay Dasilva is looking forward to his return to Ashton Gate tomorrow, when the Sky Blues face Bristol City in Championship action.

Dasilva departed Bristol City at the end of last season, bringing an end to his five-year spell at the Club.

The defender spoke highly of his time at Ashton Gate and why he is looking forward to seeing some old faces.

Looking out for his return to Bristol City…

“Pretty early to be honest. I'm looking forward to it since I spotted it on the fixture list, it's been one I'm looking forward to.

“Hopefully I get a decent reception, there might be a few boos here and there but that’s normal, but hopefully all round a decent reception.”

His time at Bristol City…

“I really enjoyed it. Obviously, I was there for quite a long time, four or five years, and I really enjoyed my time there to be honest. I loved living there. Love the club. So yeah, fond memories, to be honest.”

What to expect from Bristol City…

“They will be well organised with a high intensity press all game. Which is something we know I think most teams know that playing against them. So, that’s something that we'll be ready for.”

Enjoying his time at Coventry…

“I'm really loving every minute. As soon as I stepped in the building, it’s been nothing but positive for me.

“I've been lucky enough to play every game so hopefully that can keep going and I can keep building up performances and the team keeps building.

“I feel like game by game and week by week we’re getting stronger. We’re getting better. We're coming together a lot more.”

Coming together…

“It's not easy with a lot of new players, it doesn't happen overnight, and we knew that as well from the start.

“So, it's something that we're still working on, and I think we all have a collective goal, which is important and we keep striving towards that and then the day by day and as we get to know each other, more and more, we will start to come together.”

A sold out away end…

“That's going to be great. The away support is always brilliant and they really help us.

“There are three thousand fans travelling and we hear them all the time. They're massive for us. So that will be a great, great occasion.”

How he has settled in…

“I think I've done pretty well. Since I've came in, I think I've focused on trying to be consistent and just getting used to a new team new players as quickly as I can.

“It’s a new system and I think that's been positive so far, but I definitely agree with the manager.

“There's more I can give, especially in terms of like output assists goals, creating chances. That's definitely what I want to want to improve on just to add to the team.”
