PREVIEW: Coventry City travel to Millwall as Championship action resumes

The Sky Blues take on Millwall at The Den...

24 November 2023

The Sky Blues are back in Championship action this weekend, as they face Millwall at The Den following the international break.

Meet Millwall:

A 2-2 draw at home to Hull City last month saw Gary Rowett take charge of Millwall for the final time, as he was dismissed after four years at The Den.

Narrowly missing out on the play-offs in previous years and then a slow start to this season ultimately condemned Rowett, as he left his post, leaving Millwall 15th in the Championship.

A run of results without someone at the helm was ended last time out, as Joe Edwards tooks charge of his first game, taking his side to Yorkshire, as they faced Sheffield Wednesday.

An emphatic 4-0 win kick started his reign in charge with three points, as they picked up their first victory in six games.

Mark Robins Quotes:

“He’s a really good coach and has been coaching for a long time and has coached at high level as we know and listening to him speak, he speaks really well.

“He's got clear thoughts about identity and what he wants to do and how he wants to achieve that and how he's going to go about that and he’s pragmatic and sensible with the way that he knows the level and the players that he's got.

“It might take a little bit of time but ultimately, it comes down to us and what we can do, you can't sort of second guess, they may do something in a certain way that might be tweaked.

“They've got people at their disposal that they can use. It just depends on what they've seen. I think they'll have worked for this during this period as well.

“It'll be an interesting game, but again, it's one that we can look forward to and hopefully like I say, we can have another good performance which results in some points.”

Joe Edwards Quotes:

"I'm respectful of what Championship games are and what opponents can do. We can't go out at The Den and charge up the pitch for 90 minutes and be light at the back.

"There will be a front-foot high-energy feel about our game but there has to be times when we need to rest with the ball, take a bit of sting out of a game and control it.

"If we get it wrong there are teams in this division that can hurt you."
