Mark Robins was pleased with the way his side worked, as they picked up three points against Plymouth Argyle.
Haji Wright scored the only goal of the game, as the Sky Blues climbed to 15th in the Championship, building on victory against Millwall on the weekend.
Speaking after the final whistle, Robins looked back at the result, Haji Wright’s goal and keeping a third consecutive clean sheet.
Reflecting on the game…
“I think we made it tight. We could have been streets ahead and really should have been streets ahead had we played with that a little bit more zip, but ultimately some players are finding their feet with the frequency of games, but obviously the level as well.
“I thought we worked hard, it's not to say we didn't work hard, but I thought there was some passages of play that were just a little bit, almost good, but not quite what we're after.
“We got into some good positions and were a little bit wasteful with the chances that we had.”
Coming up against Plymouth…
“I thought that they were a good team, they've got some good players, some powerful players with some pace in the team. They are, I think the highest or joint highest scores in the division but they concede a lot as well.
“They are like a basketball team and we said that in the dressing room we made it like a basketball game, which is what they're good at.”
Start to the second half…
“The start of the second half was just a little bit tepid. We were a bit sort of scruffy and it looked like we were starting to tire and then you're looking at try and make one or two changes that's going to have a positive impact.
“We scored before I made the changes anyway but it meant that we could do something to try and get some more energy on the pitch and that was really important.”
Tatsu Sakamoto shaking off an injury…
“Tatsu came off because he had a knock on Saturday and I felt that he was sort of starting to tire in the game. Although he just had a decent passage where he got the ball into the penalty area, but was a little bit wasteful once or twice, but he gets it really some really good positions and he causes his opponents problems.
“He got his goal on Saturday and he's got a lot of confidence and he is a talented, talented player that at times, he's going have to make way, just until he gets himself going and bit more robust at the level but he performed pretty well.”
Keeping the ball in possession…
“I thought there was some really good play in there as well, but also whilst you're keeping possession of the ball, you're doing it with a purpose.
“We're not just keeping possession to get the oles off the crowd, which is great, but we want to find space and take them out of the game and then just change the point of attack and get another shot and see if we can get the second goal rather than giving it away.”
The goal by Haji Wright…
“It was a perfectly good goal.
“Haji had a sighter just before and put it over the bar and then the second one is finished it brilliantly. He's got a chance to score and Milan has found him brilliantly.
“I feel like we deserved to win it. I don't think they had too much in the game. They had one or two efforts where it was a little bit tense, but I thought we did really well and to keep them down to zero again, the third on the bounce is great.”
