Jake Bidwell was delighted to be back in the side, as he helped City to three points against Millwall at The Den.
The defender returned to the starting eleven last time out against Stoke City and played his part in back-to-back clean sheets.
Speaking after victory at The Den, Bidwell told how City are finally getting the results their performances have warranted in recent weeks.
An enjoyable afternoon out there with the win…
“We’ve obviously gone a bit longer than we would have liked without a win, so to finally get it on the board is great.
“I think probably the results haven't warranted some of the performances we've had and it was a good performance today and good to start after the break, with a win.”
Getting back into the team coinciding with an upturn in performances…
“I think there's been some good performances prior to that, that probably haven’t got the results that we've deserved. So maybe it's just things clicking into place for us a little bit.
“A change of formation as well maybe gives everyone a little bit of a different perspective. So as you say two good results for us to build on but that's what it is. It's two results. So, we need to make sure this is the turning point in our season.”
Better suited to yourself playing in a back four compared to a three…
“Yeah, I mean, I'm happy to play anywhere but I think most of my football growing up and most of my career up until the last few seasons has been at fallback.
“So obviously a position I'm familiar with, but like I said before, in interviews, I just want to contribute and help the team whether that's, you know, three at the back or four at the back doesn't really matter. So, just happy to be back out there and contributing again.”
Another clean sheet and a hand in the goals to go alongside…
“It was something we talked about before the game, you know, sticking together as a back four and then me and Milan when the ball does come to our side, we were hoping there was going to be space to break into.
“The videos Adi and Dennis showed us before the game, that's what it was and that's what materialised. So just happy to contribute and you know, the first goal especially is just Matty at his best in the box. He's always in the right place at the right time.”
On the goals and quick reactions to put them away from Godden and Tatsuhiro…
“To be fair, that one's still needed finishing off as well he (Tatsuhiro) was under a bit of pressure from the defender or the ‘keeper coming out in his face.
“Tats is a great lad and loved by everyone in the dressing room. So obviously delighted for him to get his first goal in English football, so it’s been a good afternoon all round.”
Capitalising on a corner…
“We seem to have a couple at the start of the season, to start off well. I remember Fadz got one and Joel got one, but it’s dried up a little bit lately so it something we've focused on as well.
“So, I’m delighted for Sheaf who put it in at the end. So yes, it's good to see one of them come off and like I say, a lot of positives to take from this afternoon.”
Having to bide your time this season after being an ever present last season…
“It's been a different experience for me, but you know, that's part and parcel of football at times. We're trying to build a strong squad here.
“Obviously, Jay's come in and done well in my position to start the season and that's just football you just got to try support the lads as best you can when you're not playing and make sure you're ready to take the chance when it comes.
“It's a different experience for me, but like I say, I'm just glad to be back out and contributing with the lads.”
