The Sky Blues Under-21s ran-out comfortable winners in their final home fixture of the season against Watford.

First half goals from Bradley Stretton and Tristen Batanwi and a strike late on from Justin Obikwu wrapped up the points for the Sky Blues.

Victory moves John Dempster’s side into 4th in the Professional Development League North, with one fixture away Bristol City remaining.

The first shot on target of the game produced the first goal and it was the Sky Blues who would make the breakthrough.

Will Bapaga picked up the ball wide left and he beat his man before pulling the ball back for Bradley Stretton and he placed the ball past Macauly and fired City in front.

That lead would be doubled ten minutes later and it was Tristen Batanwi at the back post who was on hand to convert a ball across goal and make it 2-0.

City almost added a third on the stroke of half-time, but Jonathan Macauly made a fine stop at his near post to keep out Bapaga’s effort.

HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 2-0 Watford

The second half began how the first had ended, as Will Bapaga created space for a shot from inside of the area, but Macauly saved.

The Sky Blues were controlling the game and having the better of the chances and they weren’t far away from a third ten minutes into the second half, but Batanwi’s strike from distance went narrowly over the bar.

City would’ve liked the game to have been out of sight on the hour mark, but Macauly in the Watford goal was keeping them at bay, as this time he saved well to keep Harrison Nee’s strike out.

However, Watford were unable to prevent the Sky Blues adding a third and it was Justin Obikwu who beat Macauly at his near post to put City out of sight.
