Sky Blues Under-21s coach Chris Allen was pleased with what he saw, as City ran out 3-0 winners against Watford at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Goals from Bradley Stretton, Tristen Batanwi and Justin Obikwu wrapped up the points, as City continued their unbeaten run.
The Under-21s have won every game they’ve played at the CBS Arena this season and confidence is building ahead of the Birmingham Senior Cup final in a few weeks.
Reflecting after the final whistle, Allen gave his thoughts on the victory over the Hornets…
On the performance…
“The lads were good. They’re enjoying playing here. We scored three good goals, and we could have had more.
“We’re pleased with the whole performance and especially Abel Alabi, who got blocks in and simplified his game, didn’t make any silly passes he just did what he was good at and let the forward players do their stuff and they did that.”
Winning every game at the CBS…
“It must be having seats around it.
“They get that little bit more. Even though it isn’t a lot of supporters here, having them in the stands watching it helps the boys.”
The first years stepping up…
“The first year scholars have stepped-up really well and have helped the group a lot and the togetherness and camaraderie in the team is fantastic and you can see that in the performances.
“Tristen got on the scoresheet, Brad with another good goal and Justin got his goal and they just need to keep doing that and adding to their game and they will keep developing into good players.”
Heading into the Senior Cup final…
“We have two more games to go and the Senior Cup is one of them.
“It’s a good lead up heading into it and it’s at another stadium, so let’s go to Bristol and get the win and get the confidence and go again.”
