PREVIEW: Sky Blues travel to Wigan in Championship action

The Sky Blues will face Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night at the DW Stadium...

14 March 2023

The Sky Blues will take on Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night as the look to strengthen their Championship promotion hopes.

Meet the Latics:

Wigan Athletic head into tonight's clash at the DW Stadium, searching for a result in order to close the gap on 21st placed Cardiff City.

The Latics sit bottom of the Championship table, following a dissapointing return to England's second tier following their promotion last season.

Shaun Maloney currently occupies the hot-seat, coming in to replace Kolo Toure, who was dismissed after a short-stint in charge.

Wigan are without a win since the start of February, when they picked up three points against Huddersfield Town in a crucial clash at the bottom of the table.

Last time the two sides met, goals from Gustavo Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres proved the difference, securing City a 2-0 win at the CBS Aren.a

Mark Robins' thoughts:

"We've got to want the game more than anybody else, in any of the games we've got left.

"We've got to want it and make any small margins count in our favour.

"It's a tough week and circumstances for the teams we are playing next week are very, very difficult.

"We were [down] there earlier on in the season, don't forget. It's not an ideal place to be but they will be fighting for their lives - so we have got to go and fight for ours."
