PREVIEW: Sky Blues host Stoke City on Legends' Day

City go into the game three points off the play-off places in the SkyBet Championship...

31 March 2023

The Sky Blues will play host to Stoke City in the SkyBet Championship on Saturday afternoon for this season's Legends' Day fixture.

Meet the Potters:

Stoke City will arrive at the Coventry Building Society Arena on a four-match unbeaten run in the SkyBet Championship, having avoided defeat against both Norwich City and Middlesbrough in recent weeks.

Prior to those impressive draws, the Potters beat Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland - a game which they won 5-1 away from home.

The run has lifted them to 13th in the Championship, 12 points outside the top six but, crucially 12 points clear of the bottom three.

Tyrese Campbell is Stoke's top goalscorer this season, having found the net eight times. However, only Watford and Sheffield United have missed more big chances (45) this term.

In the Sky Blues' camp...

Mark Robins said: “We’re coming up against a strong Stoke team tomorrow. They’ve picked up. They’ve always had good players but the organization is there now to see.

“The quality has shone through, and they’ve had some really good results, so from our point of view we have to understand that and be able to cope with it and play our own game off the back of that.

“We expect a really good Stoke side that have been in good form and are in really good form.”

In oppositions territory:

Looking ahead to the match, Stoke boss Alex Neil said: "It's been a good break but I think you'll get a better reflection in the next games, in terms of how we are and where we are.

"We went into the window in really good form. It's been good for some players to get some minutes with their national teams when they hadn't been getting as many minutes as they would like.

"It gave us an opportunity to rest some other players who had done a lot of minutes leading up to that spell.

"So all in all, good, but everyone will reflect on the window internally and externally depending on what the next few games look like."

  • Swansea City 1-3 Stoke City
