NEWS: Mark Robins provides injury update on Kasey Palmer and rest of Sky Blues squad

The Sky Blues have just eight games remaining in their SkyBet Championship campaign...

17 March 2023

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins has confirmed that Kasey Palmer will remain out of action for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Robins confirmed the news when providing an injury update on his squad ahead of this weekend's clash with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

3,777 supporters will be making the trip to East Lancashire to cheer on the Sky Blues in their final fixture before the March international break.

However, City look set to be going into battle without Palmer and Jamie Allen, who all remain sidelined, as well as Callum O'Hare and Fabio Tavares who has long-term injuries.

"The squad is, for the best part, healthy," said Robins, speaking on Friday.

"Callum and Fabio remain out and are having a few days away in the sun. They had a tough block of rehabilitation work to get through, that’s done, and the next stage of that is to rest. They will then return to resume that hard work in the gym next week.

"Liam Kelly is now back out on the grass and is running, while Jamie Allen is making decent progress too. He will be on the grass in the not-too-distant future.

"However, Kasey Palmer will remain out for the remainder of the season. He will next be available for us during pre-season ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

"He's having loads of work done. He's not needed any surgical intervention but he is having injections to help the healing process of his tendon, which has been damaged significantly.

"It needs time to heal and, at this stage of the season, a ten-week injury will rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

"It's a shame because he has been very, very good for us this season.

"But, as a group, our injury situation is not too bad at present and it is getting better, but has been worse."
