Sky Blues defender Kyle McFadzean says his teammates have nothing to lose heading into the final eight fixtures of the SkyBet Championship season, after storming to a comfortable 4-1 win over Blackpool.

The 36-year-old gave away a penalty but made up for his mistake with a stunning second-half goal, en route to a commanding win.

Matty Godden and Ben Sheaf were also on target with Curtis Nelson turning into his own net during the first half.

On the result and the penalty McFadzean gave away:

"We made it hard for ourselves at times with some sloppy balls and we got a little carried away

"I gave away a penalty and I think they should have had a second penalty too, so we got lucky there.

"I could have no complaints. He flicked it past me. It may have been outside the area but it was stupid from me. I should have stood up. It was one of those things.

"I should have cleared it but we got away with it and from there onwards it was comfortable."

On goals for Ben Sheaf and Matty Godden:

"Ben [Sheaf] was a big miss and you can see how good he was today. We were really happy for him to score because we've been getting on at him about not scoring enough.

"Then Gustavo [Hamer] curled in an unbelievable cross. I got a little touch but maybe not the last one, I think it came off one of their lads.

"It was the perfect time for us to score and then we killed it with the third and fourth.

"We should have been better after the fourth and kept the ball a bit better but we still got all three points.

"[Matty] Godden also got a goal after he came on for Tyler [Walker], who I thought played really well today and ran their defence ragged."

On his goal:

"I scored one just like it training yesterday. I hit it from the same spot and it went right into the same corner, so I had already had practice.

"I'm not very good at celebrations. I get a lot of stick from Viktor, but I think I was better in that department today."

On the final eight games:

"We've got nothing to lose. We just have to give ut our all in these last eight games.

"I've been in Blackpool's position before and it's not nice. I'd rather be where we are.

"We've got to give it a really good go now, one big push!"
