Sky Blues Under-21s boss John Dempster was pleased with the performance of his young side, despite seeing them fall to a 2-1 defeat against Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

City's young U21s side took on a Burnley team littered with senior and experienced stars, providing an excellent learning experience for Dempster's players.

Against the odds, the Sky Blues took the lead before two second-half Clarets goals turned the game around.

Evan Eghosa and Callum Perry impressed their manager, along with Marco Rus who continues to remain a stand-out player for the club at Under-21s level.

On the result...

"It was a good experience for our players on Sunday. They played three of four first-team lads and we had a similar squad to the team that beat Birmingham on Tuesday.

"We didn't see a lot of the ball at times but we defended very well, and protected the goal brilliantly."

On the performance, including impressive performances from Callum Perry, Evan Eghosa and Marco Rus...

"There were some brilliant individual performances in there. Callum Perry was outstanding. He is a brilliant communicator for his age.

"Evan Eghosa is also a cracking player for his age. He caused their fullbacks some real problems going forward.

"Some of his ball manipulation was brilliant and we were really pleased with him.

"We were also pleased once again with Marco [Rus] and his contribution, against talented players. He remains a brilliant player for us."
