Coventry City’s Season Tickets for the 2023/24 campaign are expected to go on sale next week.
These have been delayed due to the process of the Club moving card merchant bank.
This process of moving could only begin once the Sky Blues had taken all payments relating to Play-Off Final tickets.
This change of merchant bank is essential to the Club.
Previously, Ticketmaster stepped in to act as merchant bank for the Club for which we are grateful. This was due to many banks moving away from football following the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation/uncertainty of fixtures at that time.
With Ticketmaster as our card merchant bank, we only received some of the Season Ticket funds immediately – with the rest only coming to us as each game was played. This obviously created operational and cashflow challenges for the Club.
We are now changing card merchant bank and will receive the funds up front – which is important to us.
To be clear, this change does not affect our continuing partnership with Ticketmaster as our ticketing partner.
We had anticipated this being completed this week, but further external delays in the process mean this will now be next week.
Chief Executive Dave Boddy said:
“We have all found it frustrating that we could not put Season Tickets on sale sooner, but the change of card merchant bank is essential and the delay beyond our control.
“This change means that all of the money that our supporters put into the Club comes to us immediately, rather than us receiving some of immediately and the rest only once each game is played.
“Unfortunately the process could only start once we were not receiving money relating to Play-Off final tickets.
“We thank fans for their patience while this is sorted, as this will provide a real long-term benefit to the Club.”
