The Sky Blues flew out to Portugal on Saturday night, as they prepare for a week of training sessions in the Algarve.

New signing Ellis Simms trained with his team mates for the first time on Sunday and revealed how welcomed he has been from the rest of the squad.

First session in Portugal…

“It was great to get out there and train with the lads.

“We had a double session, with a bit of time to rest up in between and I’m just looking forward to the next session whilst we’re out here.”

Meeting his new team mates…

“They’re a great bunch of lads. They’ve made me feel really welcome and like I said, they’re just a top bunch of lads.”

Whilst Simms is the latest striker to join the Sky Blues, another attacker who was on the plane to Portugal was Fabio Tavares.

Fabio suffered a severe injury in January in an FA Cup clash with Wrexham, which ruled him out for up to nine months.

Tavares is currently in Portugal with the rest of the Sky Blues squad, as he continues his rehab in the gym.

Working in the gym…

“I’m just in the gym doing my injury rehabilitation and it’s going well.

“I have had Gus with me in there for the last few days and we had Kasey for a while at the start. I’ve had Callum O’Hare with me throughout the whole journey, which has been massive for me.

“He has helped me a lot and I think I’ve helped him to.”

Being in the gym and not on the grass…

“You don’t really think of it as a drag. You’re in there with your mates and you’re having a good time, working hard to get back.”
