PREVIEW: Sky Blues host the Terriers

City entertain Mark Fotheringham's side...

27 January 2023

The Sky Blues are back in action at the Coventry Building Society Arena, as they host Mark Fotheringham's Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers head into this weekend's fixture in the bottom three of the Championship, following a dissapointing season.

Huddersfield suffered defeat in the play-off final last year and would've been looking to kick on, however after losing key players and manager Carlos Corberan before the season begun, the Terriers have found themselves in a relegation battle.

Danny Schofield was dismissed in late 2022, being replaced by Mark Fortheringham, who was tasked with steering Huddersfield away from the bottom three.

Fotheringham has been busy in the Janaury Transfer Window, recruiting Sky Blues striker Martyn Waghorn on loan, alongside Matthew Lowton, Anthony Knockaert and Joseph Hungbo.

Huddersfield sit three points behind Cardiff City, who occupy 21st, with their destiny in their own hands.

Mark Robins Quotes:

“Huddersfield have a really strong squad and they’ve changed things a bit.

“It’s a really good club that I know well and it’s a surprise where they are because they have a really good squad.

“They’ve got some really good players, but they’ve had some injuries and some of them are coming back now.

“They have strength in depth and good numbers. You can guess what they’re going to do, you can look at that but it’s their prerogative.

“For us it’s about us and going out and performing to a level. Some of the performances, certainly against Burnley and some of the performance against Norwich was actually really good."

Mark Fotheringham Quotes:

“We’re really looking forward to this game at the weekend and we’re fully focussed.

“We’re attacking this game like we do every match, we go there to win – we have our match plan and a real consistency to our group at present.

“There’s a real energy about the group at the moment and we’re really looking forward to the challenge against Coventry, we know they are a good side.

“Martyn Waghorn obviously won’t be involved due to loan restrictions, which is unfortunate because he has trained brilliantly.”
