Captain for the night, Marco Rus was delighted to be back on the scoresheet in City’s 6-1 win over Coleshill Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

It was Marco’s goal which helped bring the Sky Blues level on the night and kick-started the comeback to help City progress into the next round.

Speaking after the final whistle, Rus was honest in his assessment of the game and also spoke of his future ambition’s.

Assessment of the performance…

“We were really poor first half I thought, and I don’t think we were anywhere near good enough.

“We were rusty, we haven’t played a game together for a few weeks, so we had to work our way into the game, and I thought second half we were outstanding and ruthless, taking all our chances, so it was a good second half.”

The first half performance…

“We were too erratic, and everyone was all over the place and we didn’t really have a shape in possession, and we didn’t have enough energy to go and press people and get in their faces.

“I thought it showed with the goal we conceded, we didn’t defend it great, so to be able to come out in the second half and put it right and get six goals was important.”

Getting on the scoresheet…

“It was a good finish. I practice them all the time in training and were doing some finishing practice in training yesterday.

“I was speaking to the staff and I told them I wanted to add more goals and assists to my game and I was glad I was able to do that.”

Loan spell at Hereford…

“I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve played some good games and played in front of good crowds and it’s just men’s football under your belt and that’s what I want to do.

“Games like these help me a lot, because if I am to go out on loan it helps to play against men.

“It was really pleasing to go there and put in some good performances. It’s what I wanted to do and to score my first goal was good because it what I needed to do from last season, so I’m glad I’m able to do it this year.

“I think I have to go and prove myself in men’s football and enjoy myself in every game.”
