The Sky Blues completed their third signing of the January Transfer Window, as Luke McNally agreed a loan move until the end of the season.

McNally joins City from fellow Championship side Burnley and has begun training with his new team mates this morning.

The 23-year-old made a name for himself in England last season, when he starred for Oxford United in League One.

Upon his arrival at City, McNally discusses his targets for himself during the loan spell and what his initial thoughts are of Coventry City…

Agreeing the move…

“I’m really happy and I’m delighted to be here. I’m looking to get some minutes under my belt and getting out on the pitch and help the team.

“I want to get some minutes and help the team in the Championship and help the team move up the table.”

Attracting interest from City…

“I was always aware there was interest from Coventry. Even when I was at Oxford in League One I knew they were keeping tabs on me.

“When I heard they were coming in for me in January, I was more than happy to come out here on loan.”

What he has learnt from the Sky Blues in meetings with Burnley…

“I was really impressed with what I saw.

“I spoke to some of the lads who played in that game, and they said it was a really tough game and I think that says a lot that the team who are top of the league and doing really well were saying Coventry are one of the best teams and hardest sides they’ve faced.”

How football in England compares to Ireland…

“It’s tough. It’s a much better standard here.

“Ireland might be a bit more physical, but I think athletically you get better players here. On the whole I think the whole experience has been good and now this is the next chapter and I’m excited about it."

Aims during loan…

“You have to take it one game at a time. Every time you put the kit on you have to give your all and focus on that game and then worry about next week, next week.

“It might sound a bit cliché but that’s how you have to do it.

“I played in a back three a bit at Oxford and we switched to a back four as well, but I always felt comfortable in a back three.

“If you’re on the outside you get more opportunities to step in and link with other players on the pitch, but either way suits me.”

First chat with Mark Robins…

“He’s a good guy. He wished me all the best and said the opportunity is here for me and I need to take it as best as I can and hopefully do well for him.”
