Luke McNally made his City debut in victory over Huddersfield Town and he was delighted to get off to a winning start.
McNally was handed a first start for the club, having joined City from Burnley on Thursday earlier this week.
The loanee produced a solid performance and kept a clean sheet, to preserve the points for the Sky Blues.
On the win v Huddersfield and completing 90 minutes…
“We had to dig in there. I am just really happy to come in and start off with a win and a clean sheet. You cannot really get much better than that.
“I am buzzing for the lads as well because they had not won in a while so I am really delighted for them.
“I feel fine, it was tough. I was looking at the clock towards the end but we started well and everyone deserves a lot of credit, including the substitutes.”
On playing in a back three…
“I have not played in a back three for a while and not much at all in my career, maybe a few games for Oxford. But I felt comfortable, I thought Callum (Doyle) and (Jonathan) Panzo were great besides me.
“Nice and aggressive, we love having a nibble whenever the opposition come close to try and get the ball. I thought we worked well and limited them to only a couple headers.”
On his chance and his ability to get forward…
“I made good contact, probably too good! It was a good delivery and I blazed it over. Hopefully there will be more chances coming so I can get one.
“I love getting forward in the box, especially corners. That is just part of my game. Obviously, I love getting clean sheets but for me scoring is still special. Hopefully I can get a few.”
On Hamer’s brilliance and the squad…
“I have seen what he can do in training. He always tries to shoot from any chance he gets so I was not really that surprised (at his goal). Obviously, I have watched Coventry versus Burnley home and away so I know the players’ names and individuals.
“They have all been brilliant allowing me to settle in. I have not been involved much at Burnley, but when I have watched their games there is a lot of domination, possession and chances. But when Coventry played us, it was not as easy as that. The lads at Burnley said its always a tough game versus Coventry and they are a good team.
“There is a lot of respect no doubt for Coventry in this league.”
On Viktor Gyokeres…
“He is unbelievable. I have seen his goals and stuff but it is different when you are on the pitch with him. He turns quickly and all of a sudden, he is gone.
“The world is his oyster to be honest, I have not seen anyone like him since I joined the squad.
“I want to come up against him in training but definitely not on a matchday!”
On his loan spell for Coventry…
“I want to help the team as much as I can and get as many minutes as I can. That was my first start in the Championship because I played in League One last season. I am just hoping to build up as much experience as possible.
“It is a great squad here and that’s why I came. I am not just here to sit around, I want to push on.”
