Following his arrival from Manchester City, Josh Wilson-Esbrand sat down for his first talk with the Sky Blues.
However, it was an interview like no other, as his Manchester City teammate, Callum Doyle was the one asking the questions.
Josh gave an insight into what he can bring to the Sky Blues, whilst talking about his aims during the loan spell and getting some Championship experience under his belt.
Josh, welcome to Coventry City. How happy are you to be here!
“To be honest I’m really relaxed about it.
“It’s been a great new thing for me, but I’m over the moon to get things over the line and I’m looking forward to playing some football.”
What was it about Coventry City that convinced you to make this move?
“The coaching staff and the style of play was really interesting, and I think the shape, and you being here, it gives some comfortability. It’s a great move I think.”
How much of an impact has my success this season helped to convince you to come and join me at Coventry?
“A lot. It shows that you’ve come here and got the opportunity and got some significant minutes under your belt and that’s what ill be trying to do.
“I want to play every game my body will allow me and that’s the aim to play as many minutes as I can.”
You will already be familiar with some of the players here, including me. How have you settled in on your first day?
“It’s been good. The players are outstanding, all the coaching staff have made me feel welcome so it’s a nice warm environment here and I’m ready to crack on.”
This will be your first experience of a loan move. What are you hoping to gain from these next six months?
“It will be yes. I like change and the challenge of going to new environments.
“I think getting more experience in men’s football than the few that I have here is the aim and also I just want to help the team and progress as a player.”
I know you’re a left back of course but what can our fans expect to see from you?
“You can expect some solid work defensively and a lot of excitement going forward.”
You’ll be travelling back up to Lancashire on Saturday for the game against Burnley, a tough test but one that you must really be looking forward to.
“Everyone can see how well Burnley are doing under Vincent Kompany and the way they play, so I think it will be a great test.”
Lastly, what is your message to the Coventry City fans who will be looking forward to welcoming you with open arms this weekend?
“Thank you for having me. I will do my best for the club. I will do my best that I can to be the best version of myself and I’m here to enjoy it.”
