INTERVIEW: Harrison Nee talks Sheffield Wednesday, first team training and loan spell

16 January 2023

Striker Harrison Nee reflected on a busy few months, after he made his professional debut and made the step-up to the Sky Blues first team.

Nee was sent out on loan to Barwell back in November and scored on several occasions, ensuring his spell in men’s football was a memorable one.

Since then, Nee has been called-up to the Sky Blue Lodge and has been training with the first team, as well as being named amongst the substitutes in the FA Cup and Championship.

Reflecting on an eventful few months, Nee assessed his loan spell and what training with the first team has done to help his development, as well as the Under-21s 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Victory over Sheffield Wednesday…

“It was tough conditions on a tough pitch, but the lads did really well, and we defended well as a whole team and it was a good goal to win it.”

Loan spell at Barwell…

“It was really good. Playing men’s football is completely different to what you get in the Under-21s. It’s a different changing room, and you play on different pitches against tough oppositions.

“I learnt a lot from it and it’s really important because we can go out and play men’s football because you learn things and bring it back with you.

“You learn how to manage games and treat different situations, so it’s really important.”

Being called-up to first team training…

“It’s been really good and training with the first team can only make you better.

“When you play with Vik, one of the best players in the Championship, you learn a lot from him, and you get to watch what he does and take it all in.

“You learn a lot in the dressing room. You get to see how much every game means and how much every little detail means and its all a learning curve.”

Aims for the rest of the season…

“I want to score more goals with the Under-21s and if I get a chance in the first team then that would be great, but I’m just focusing on working hard at the moment.”
