Ben Sheaf expressed his disappointment after the Sky Blues exited the FA Cup at the hands of Wrexham.
City were reduced to ten men in the second half and fell 4-1 behind, before clawing the game back to 4-3, ultimately falling short in their bid to draw level.
After the final whistle, the midfielder gave an honest assessment of the events...
On the FA Cup exit…
“Doesn’t feel great. Simple fact is we should not be losing these games. I know it’s a cup tie and people say it is the magic of the cup but, we didn’t start well.
“The sloppy start cost us the game and lapses in concentration. Sloppy and loose, and that invited the pressure. They capitalised on that and took their chances. We weren’t physical enough in those moments.
“It is a disappointing day. We had more than enough quality to win. We need to move on and focus on the big game Saturday,”
On a disappointing evening…
“We are the Championship club, and they are non-league. We should not be losing that game. But the FA Cup is a strange competition sometimes.
“We wanted to go far this campaign but obviously we lost.”
On Wrexham …
“We knew their strengths from set pieces and throw ins.
“If we had combatted their strengths, we would have won the game. We were at home, and we wanted to take advantage of that, but we didn’t. The sloppy start cost us.”
On Coventry’s reaction going down to ten men…
“You could see the fitness levels.
“We lost a man, but we still pushed, and we showed character with the fitness levels. It is just a shame we couldn’t find the equaliser.”
