CLASSICS: Sky Blues 1-0 Burnley

We take a look back at a classic meeting between Burnley and the Sky Blues...

12 January 2023

Coventry City will travel to Burnley on Saturday to lock horns with the league leaders at Turf Moor.

The Sky Blues will be out to avenge their 1-0 defeat from earlier this season, with the winning goal coming from Premier League loanee Nathan Tella.

Over recent seasons, the two clubs have found themselves operating in different divisions with their last meeting prior to this season coming back in 2012.

You would have to go back to 2010 to find the last time City came out winners against the Clarets, with Michael Doyle's stunning strike proving the difference between the two sides.

The goal came from a Sky Blues corner that Burnley failed to clear, landing at the feet of Doyle who skipped a challenge before firing low and hard inside the near post from 25 yards.
