Coventry City Under-21s have fallen to a 2-1 home defeat against Hull City at the Alan Higgs Centre.
John Dempster's side took the lead early on through an own goal, created by Harrison Nee, but the visitors struck either side of the break to claim all three points.
The young Sky Blues started the game on the front foot, forcing the opener through an own goal by a Hull City defender: Nee charged clear down the right and crossed low into the area, where the ball was turned in.
Moments later, Ryan Howley almost doubled Coventry’s lead after being played through on goal from midfield. His effort was stopped by goalkeeper Dave Robson.
Next, it was Hull City’s turn, with forward Jim Simms forcing a strong save from Cian Tyler. However, the Tigers found the level moments later through an own goal, turned in from an in-swinging corner.
After the break, the young Sky Blues pushed for a second. Isaac Moore, Justin Obikwu and Tom Costello were introduced and helped Howley to find an opening, but the midfielder failed to convert.
Nevertheless, with ten minutes left of the clock, Hull found the winner through Will Jarvis. The wide man wriggled in from the left and fired low past Tyler, into the bottom corner.
Dempster’s side pushed on for an equaliser late on but were unable to level the game. Jay McGrath came close from a corner kick after Harrison Nee almost found a sensational late leveler.
