INTERVIEW: Liam Kelly on Rotherham United test and City's top six targets

Sky Blues captain Liam Kelly looks ahead to Saturday's trip to Rotherham...

Sky Blues captain Liam Kelly says City will only get stronger the more they see their injured players return, as he looks ahead to Saturday's clash with Rotherham United.

Mark Robins' side will travel to the ASSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday as they look to make it back-to-back wins in the SkyBet Championship.

Ahead of the trip, Kelly emphasises the importance of taking the upcoming run of fixtures one game at a time with the Club hoping that a string of impressive results could lift them inside the top six.

On his recent injury...

"I missed one or two days' worth of training with a tight calf but I was fine! I have trained all week and I am ready to help the team at the weekend.

"It was nice to get some minutes out there against Millwall and if we can get a positive result against Rotherham then it makes for a brilliant week."

On the Club's recent results...

"It was another clean sheet on Tuesday, which is fantastic. It is hard to keep clean sheets in the Championship and it was another brilliant result for us to build on.

"We look at teams that we would not expect to be in the top six, like Luton and Millwall, and they have built their success on keeping clean sheets and being difficult to beat. We are the same, and we pride ourselves on that.

"Being able to keep clean sheets is massive, no matter what level you're at. You need to win games so returning to being a team that is difficult to score against is massive for us."

On the targets for the season...

"We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. March is another busy month so we'll take that one game at a time. If we can do that, things will start coming together at the end of the season.

"Our only focus is on Rotherham United away on Saturday.

"We are a confident group with a lot of quality in there. We've done a lot of good work to put ourselves into a position where we're not going in there stuck in a relegation battle. We get past 50 points and then we build from there.

"We need to make sure we win our next one and, if we can't, don't get beaten."

On his own targets...

"I just need to keep doing what I have been doing. I have approached the sport this season the same as I have throughout my career.

"Other than those two days of training that I missed, I have been fit for a long time now.

"All I can do is concentrate on my game and ensure that, if I do get on the pitch, I do my job right and keep working hard."

On the returning injured players...

"We've had a bit of experience and know-how return. We've got so many talented players and an experienced spine.

"Those players, like Kyle McFadzean and Matty Godden, will be massive for us between now and the end of the season and having players like Tyler Walker back is a boost."
