Coventry City Under-21s boss John Dempster praised teenagers Isaac Moore and Evan Eghosa for their impressive performances during Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Barnsley.

Tom Costello gave the young Sky Blues the lead early on, converting a penalty won by a charging Moore run from midfield.

Harrison Nee came close on multiple occasions but was unable to double City's lead, before Barnsley leveled through a Callum Perry own goal.

Discussing the result, Dempster said: "It was a shame not to come out o the game with all three points because the level of performance was high, especially during the second half.

"We created a lot of changes and had lots of shots on goal, although we could have done better with our finishing.

"However, we let ourselves down defensively with our body language and our level of communication, especially with the goal we conceded.

"After the break, that was much improved and it was great to see Tom Costello get some more minutes and finish off the penalty professionally."

Isaac Moore, who has made the step up from Under-18s to Under-21s on a number of occasions this season, found himself well involved throughout.

The youngster won the penalty and almost assisted Harrison Nee with a fine pass into the penalty area.

Eghosa also landed praise from Dempster, both for his quality and attitude after playing back-to-back 90 minutes at wing-back at U21s level.

"Isaac was always involved," said Dempster. "He regains the ball more than any young player I've ever seen.

"He works so hard and always runs the most in training. What really sets him apart is his mentality on the pitch. He is a real winner.

"He was probably the best Under-18s player last season, and he was still eligible to play for the Under-16s, and he is already more than ready for Under-21s football."

On Eghosa, Dempster continued: "He played at right-wing-back for us and, once again, he showed brilliant quality.

"He has played as a winger this season for the Under-18s but he is also a really good one-versus-one defender. It's not often you see players going past him, even when he is against players a lot older than him.

"He brought a lot to the table and caused their left-back a lot of defensive problems and had a really good day today."

Eligible to play for the Sky Blues are part of his loan agreement, teenage defender Riccardo Di Trolio made his debut in Sky Blue in South Yorkshire and came just an own goal away from scoring a clean sheet.

"He was very steady today," Dempster added. "He has got a good left foot and won all of his aerial duels today.

"He was a little quiet at times but that is to be expected, as he has come into a new Club and a new group.

"However, he looks like a really good prospect and we are all really looking forward to working with him"
