Jamie Allen helped fire the Sky Blues to all three points as they made it back-to-back wins against Rotherham United.
Allen scored his sixth goal of the season just a minute after the restart, getting on the end of a Jake Bidwell ball back across goal.
The game was then wrapped up in injury time as Viktor Gyokeres scored his 15th goal of the season.
Looking back after the game, Allen was happy with the clean sheet and the three points, capping off a good week for City.
Reflecting on victory…
“Yeah, very happy,” Allen said.
“We challenged ourselves to try and get back-to-back wins and thankfully we did it.
“The clean sheet as well, we’ve come back from the World Cup and we were disappointed we hadn’t kept more and I think you can see by the numbers we’ve created since then and we want to get some more.”
Kicking on in the second half…
“I can’t remember much from the first half. I thought we were a bit sluggish at the start with it being our third game in a week and we had to up it in the second half and thankfully we got the first goal early on and we kicked on and got the win.
“We said at half time we need to up it a little bit. If we upped it we knew we could win the game and thankfully we did that.”
Getting on the scoresheet…
“It’s about time I started scoring more goals. The touch was a bit out my way and not as close to me as I would’ve liked it be, but I managed to get my toe on it and managed to get it through the lad’s legs so it’s even better.
“We got down the left and Bidders found me, and I managed to finish it off, so it was a good way to start the second half.”
Viktor scoring again…
“He had a few in the first half which got blocked and then thankfully after a brilliant goal on Tuesday he’s got another important one today.
“When he’s scoring like that there’s not many people who can deal with him and hopefully, he carries on doing that and scoring goals.”
